On the other hand, Spyderco Manbug is even smaller. It is 4-3/8 inches when opened, 2-1/2 inches when closed. It is very lightweight at just 0.65 oz. The extremely compact and lightweight design makes this knife very easy to conceal.
If we compare the blade designs of Spyderco Dragonfly 2 vs Manbug, they are actually quite similar. Both knives feature leaf-shaped blades, although Spyderco Dragonfly 2’s is larger than Spyderco’s Manbug. With a blade length of 2-5/16 inches, Spyderco Dragonfly 2 may offer slightly better usability for some tasks, such as slicing. The blade is made of the ZDP-189 steel, which has 3% pure carbon for enhanced strength and edge retention.
On the other hand, Spyderco Manbug’s blade length is 1-7/8 inches. Despite the short blade, the knife is still handy and useful for a variety of EDC tasks. The blade is made of the VG-10 steel, which is also known for the superior edge retention and durability. This material may be quite challenging to sharpen, as you need strong sharpening tools to sharpen it properly. However, it can be made very sharp, and it holds its edge very well.
Both knives are equipped with FRN handles with spine jimping. Spyderco Dragonfly 2’s handle is slightly longer, and the size is just right for a four-finger grip. It is generally more comfortable to hold. It has a lanyard hole and a left/right tip-up wire clip which is very handy.
If you don’t need a carry clip, Spyderco Manbug is great. This knife is designed for a clipless carry. It does have a lanyard hole. Without a carry clip, the overall size of the knife can be slimmer – making it very ideal for a concealable knife.
