Ka Bar Becker BK2 Review

Ka Bar Becker BK2 is priced at $86 and you might also find a good deal for the knife. It’s designed for camping and comes with a hard-shell back nylon sheath. Ka Bar Becker BK2 is slightly shorter compared to BK7.

It’s a 10,5 inches long knife and looks really compact and portable. But once you hold the knife in your hand, you’ll realize the power of this knife. Most people would be surprised by the weight. It weighs almost a pound. Mostly because of the back of the blade. It’s made of a full quarter inch thick in its entire length.

You can use Ka Bar Becker BK2 as a chisel or hammer without damaging the handle. the tang is longer than the handle and finished as a straight edge with beveled corners. As for the blade, it’s without a doubt a very impressive chunk of metal. It’s not stainless like some modern knife, instead it’s created from 1095 chromium-vanadium high carbon steel.

Unfortunately, it isn’t corrosion resistant. It doesn’t need intensive care or something like that, just make sure to clean it whenever you have the time. There is nothing to worry about durability. It’s a tough allot that can match even the most expensive stainless steels.

There is another downside. Its thickness and strength are overkill for a knife this size. So, you can’t use it to split logs or chop things well, since it’s too short. Also, some people reported that the handle scales are held by three recessed hex-head bolts and these can loosen up.

Overall, Ka Bar Becker BK2 is a great knife. If you’re looking for a compact knife to use on camping, Ka Bar Becker BK2 can serve you well. Especially with a very affordable price tag. The blade is strong and the handle is comfortable to grip. Ka Bar Becker BK2 will make you tasks easier.

Ka Bar Becker BK7 Review

Ka Bar Becker BK7 is priced at $97.59 on Amazon. It’s high carbon steel, 1095 Cro-Van, and Rockwell Hardness 56-58. The length of the blade is 7 inches with a saber or flat grind and not full flat. It weighs at 12 ounces. It’s a thick blade with considerable weight.

Ka Bar Becker BK7 is a really great value knife. For the price you get a great knife that can be used for many things. The handle’s design is made to work well. You can fit your whole hand on it to make a secure grip. The knife is also small enough to be put around your leg.

Unlike Ka Bar Becker BK2, Bk 7 can be used to split and chop wood pretty well. The length of the blade gives enough room to expand wood with ease. This way you can get some wood for the fire as much as you want. But the unsharpened wedge can ruin the wood. Smaller pieces of wood especially, might get smashed to pieces.

Now for detail work, Ka Bar Becker BK7 is excellent. Some people have reported to be satisfied in using Ka Bar Becker BK7 for detailed work. Big knives are not suitable for detail work, but you can choke up on the handle and blade just a little bit and do some feather sticks to get fire going.

The downside is the thumb ramp. You’re going to move your thumb a lot while doing detailed work. Even though Ka Bar Becker BK7 is advertised as a combat knife, you probably don’t want to use it for that purpose.

Overall, Ka Bar Becker BK7 is a great knife and this price point you really can’t go wrong. You can do a lot of things with it and there is a high chance that it’s going to last for a lifetime. This is usually the case with a 7-inch blade and even better since it’s Ka Bar Becker BK7.

Both knives are great, and their popularity is proof of that. Ka Bar Becker BK2 is an older model compared to Bk7. Bk2 has good retention, bulky, and easy to carry. BK7 is slightly longer and bigger and can chop well.

Off the shelf, Ka Bar Becker BK7 comes very sharp. It Feels better than Bk2. For combat, both knives aren’t that good but BK7 performs better. Carving isn’t really recommended with these knives but again BK7 is better. I think it’s safe to say that for a lot of people Ka Bar Becker BK7 is the winner here. It just performs better for all purposes and the price difference is small.
