Lock and Assisted Opening
CRKT M4 is equipped with the heavy-duty InterFrame and dual stainless steel liners. The locking mechanism is solid and robust. However, there are some people who complained that the liners are ridged and sometimes give them a sore thumb. But other users do not have any problem with this design.

The CRKT OutBurst assisted opening mechanism is quick and efficient. It has dual thumb studs for ambidextrous operation. It has also been optimized for easy one-handed operation; you can open the knife effortlessly using a single hand, as the thumb stud is very much reachable. The patented LAWKS safety creates a virtual fixed blade, by maintaining the blade after it is opened and locked.

Performance
CRKT M4 is very quick and efficient. You can swiftly open it without spending any time, and it locks into the position. The blade is made of the 8Cr13MoV stainless steel with a satin finish; although the finish is not the most durable in the world, the blade itself is tough and capable. The blade is easy to sharpen. It resists chipping well. Nevertheless, you should make sure that you clean it and oil it regularly to prevent rust.
